This Is Where It's At!

Ian is the coolest! An artist, gallery owner, entrepreneur, I hope you all get to meet him when you come to Prescott this weekend!

Besides having one whole wall for my paintings in Ian's gallery, my family is showing paintings at the Phippen Museum's Generations show. It's a show featuring families of artists. Many different styles and points of view, not just western are displayed in the new wing of the museum.

Also at the museum is the Miniature Masterpiece Show for the Phippen Memorial Art Show and Sale. Artists will have tents set up around the courthouse for the entire weekend and there will be big doin's at the museum and around town to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend.

George will have a booth at space 118, in the shade, in front of the courthouse. So come and say "Hey!"

Ian Russell Gallery Show - May27th

I'm so happy to be showing in Ian's gallery on Whiskey Row. I will be showing with Don Rantz for Memorial Day weekend instead of setting up a tent across the street at the Phippen Show. It's always so much nicer to be in a gallery than a tent!

It's a big art show weekend.

At the Phippen Museum there will be a miniature show as well as the Generations show. My family is one of the Generation families showing our work.

Downtown on the Courthouse Square, artists will be setting up tents for the biggest western art show and sale of the year in Prescott, Arizona.

Sure In For A Storm

I am going to be in Wickenburg this weekend at the Cowgirl Up! show at Desert Cabarellos Western Museum but this painting will not be in the show because I just finished it last night. I'm always a little nervous going into a weekend like this and painting calms me, makes everything right.

My work is taking a new turn. My first love was portraiture but in the past few years I've been experimenting. This is what I know about my preferences today- I can't bear to mess with perfection of humans and animals while the sky and trees open the door to a kind of abstract storytelling.

I want wild color and to be free to imagine. Painting is the closest thing to flying.

Get ready, I'm trying something new!

The Painted Journal is Back!
